Is Matrix Synapse HIPAA compliant?+
Matrix Synapse supports end-to-end encryption, access controls, and audit logging, which are key technical safeguards under the HIPAA Security Rule. When deployed correctly with proper configuration, it meets the technical requirements for HIPAA-compliant messaging.
Do I need a BAA to use Matrix for healthcare?+
If a third party hosts or manages your Matrix server and has access to ePHI, you need a Business Associate Agreement with them. If you self-host on your own infrastructure, no BAA is needed for the messaging platform itself.
What is the difference between self-service and managed deployment?+
Self-service gives you the Ansible deployment files for free to run on your own server. Managed deployment means our team handles the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of your Matrix server.
How much does managed deployment cost?+
